Sorin MIHAI INCDMRR-ICPMRR Bucureşti Abstract: The worldwide increase in capabilities to exploit mineral resources due to the decrease of useful matter  content in ore bodies and the increasing demand for raw materials, results in a massive enhancement of waste deposits  and technological water consumption. Lately, there is a general tendency to replace the classical tailing ponds with more  environmentally friendly disposal methods. This paper presents a series of alternative mine waste disposal: thickened  tailings deposit, pulp, filtrate and co-settlement process. The application of alternative disposal methods lead to the  significant decrease of the deposits’ volume, increased safety in use, technological water consumption decrease and  easy environmental rehabilitation at the end of exploitation.  Prognoza subsidenţei induse de exploatarea subterană cu surpare în subetaje a unui zăcământ de tip porphyry Dr. Ing. Marius ZLĂGNEAN INCDMRR-ICPMRR Bucureşti Sorin HALGA SAMAX România SRL Abstract: During the underground mining of ore deposits voids may occur, the overlaying rock could bend or fall into  these voids. This results in movements and deformations at surface where a subsidence depression is formed. The size  of the movements and deformations depends primarily on the geo-mechanical properties of rocks and on the general  geo-mechanical situation, comprising: the geological conditions of the embedded deposit, the mined thickness and depth  of the underground deposit, the mining method and other factors (Schenk, J,1999). Sub-level caving induced subsidence  may endanger the mine infrastructure and is a major concern for operational safety. Moreover, changes to surface  landforms induced by sub-level caving subsidence may lead to an important environmental impact. Therefore, the ability  to predict the surface subsidence associated with sub-level caving mining is critical for both mining operational hazards  and environmental impact assessments. This study may be considered an application of modern methodologies  (assuming the stochastic character of the rock mass based on Knothe’s theory) and time parameters, and theories  based on finite element analysis of specific bi-dimensional profiles according to the different mining phases and  geological rock structures. Ioan DUMITRESCU Universitatea din Petroşani Abstract: This paper presents the author's research carried out for finding solutions to mitigate noise at open pits developed in Oltenia Basin. The case study refers to Roşia de Jiu open pit, large-scale mining works which involve big equipment and generate noise at levels far beyond the limits allowed by the norms in force. Eugenia PANŢURU, Dr. Carmen MANEA, Adriana BOTEZ, Viorica IONIŢĂ INCDMRR-ICPMRR Bucureşti Abstract: SNOWMAN was one of the first ERA-NETs launched competition under the 6th Framework Programme of the  European Commission for Research and Technological Development. REJUVENATE 2 Project released and assigned  under the framework of SNOWMAN 2 competition is focused on contaminated and marginal land use for the production  of biofuels. The project aim is to apply in practice the decision support tool SDR at real scale, i.e. the procedures for  guiding decisions for a feasibility study considering reusing biomass for a certain area, in four stages: cultivation of  biomass; characteristics of the land; evaluation of the project; project risk identification of viable opportunities.
